Arm Lift procedures, called brachioplasty, are performed to eliminate the excess fat and skin that sometimes occurs under the arms as a result of normal aging or following weight loss. While you may lose additional weight through a brachioplasty, this procedure is not meant as a weight-loss tool, but as post-weight-loss sculpting under the upper arm.
A tummy tuck, called abdominoplasty in the medical field, is a cosmetic surgical procedure performed on adult men and women that removes excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdominal area and tightens the muscles in the abdominal wall. A tummy tuck can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. However, it will create a permanent scar on the bikini line. This scar will fade over time but will never completely disappear.
A tummy tuck is particularly popular among women who have completed their families, as well as both men and women who have lost weight. After pregnancy, you may find your abdominal muscles have become saggy and the tummy skin to be soft and wrinkled. This will not disappear with exercise. As the abdominal muscles are stretched, they will not return to their original, taut position without a surgical intervention to tighten them. Although a tummy tuck may be done after weight loss, bear in mind that if you have lost a great deal of weight, you may benefit more from a body lift which will not only take care of the tummy area but also the hips and buttocks. The final decision on which procedure is best for you will be covered in your consultation with your surgeon.
Since a tummy tuck is often performed after pregnancy or weight loss, we strongly recommend that you wait to have this procedure only when you have completed your family and/or lost all the weight you intend to lose. Once done, the benefits can be undone by a subsequent pregnancy or weight gain. To maintain the look of your new, flat tummy, you need to maintain your current weight.
There are two types of tummy tuck procedures: the partial or mini-abdominoplasty and the complete or full abdominoplasty. If most of your loose skin is below the navel, a mini-abdominoplasty may be enough correction for you. If, however, you have more significant skin excess across most of your abdomen, a complete abdominoplasty may be recommended. A full or mini- abdominoplasty may be combined with liposuction to remove fat deposits from the hips to create a better contour. However, it is possible that liposuction alone would create your best result. Your surgeon will discuss all this in detail at your consultation to assure that you have the procedure that’s just right for your needs.
A labial reduction is a plastic surgery procedure that reduces the size of the labia minora, also called the inner labia, or the labia majora, also called the outer labia. It is performed for women whose labia are elongated, protruding or asymmetrical. These changes can cause sexual or social embarrassment, painful swelling prohibiting exercise, excess sweating or painful sexual intercourse. In addition, the outer labia (majora) can be either augmented or reduced to produce a desired cosmetic appearance.
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure performed on adult men and women that removes excess fat from underneath the skin. Liposuction is not a weight loss tool, though many people mistakenly think it is. Liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that have not responded to your best efforts at exercise and weight loss. We use Power-Assisted Liposuction, which results in less bruising, swelling and trauma.
A thigh lift is a surgical procedure performed to eliminate the excess fat and skin around the inner thighs. While you may lose additional weight through a thigh lift, this procedure is not meant as a weight-loss tool, but as post-weight-loss sculpting of the thighs.
Cellulite has been the subject of many conversations between women for decades. How do we get rid of that cottage cheese like texture that even the skinniest of women are subject? Often confused with something that you can diet and exercise away, cellulite is a structural problem not a “fat” problem. It requires a change in the relationship of the skin, fat, connective tissue and underlying muscle that creates those unsightly dimples. Up until now, other treatments have been able to make minimal improvement (25-50%) in the appearance of cellulite. Cellulaze is a procedure that addresses the structural problems below the skin’s surface that cause cellulite. This is a minimally invasive procedure performed by a physician that has been clinically proven to thicken and smooth the skin’s surface. Cellulaze can be used to treat the buttocks, back of the legs, abdomen and thighs.
Benefits of the Cellulaze Cellulite Treatment:
- Only one Treatment is Required
- Clinical studies have shown that results last for one year
- 93% of patients surveyed were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with their Cellulaze treatment and would recommend it to a friend
If your buttocks could simply use some volume, your surgeon may choose to increase their size with fat obtained from other areas of your own body using liposuction. Patients get an added benefit from this 2-step technique, since the first step is to remove excess fat from other parts of the body. The second step is to take that fat, which has been collected and processed, and inject it into the buttocks, where it will now enhance – rather than detract from – an ideal contour. The fat used for this type of buttock augmentation can be collected from a variety of traditional problem areas, such as the abdomen, flanks and thighs.
BODY CONTOURING FOR MASSIVE WEIGHT LOSS
It’s unfortunate that extra, sagging skin often remains after a patient has worked very hard to lose a great deal of weight. The best way to remove this excess skin is through surgery, as once stretched, the skin may not return to a normal contour. Surgical contouring can be performed on any healthy adult and is tailored to the postoperative outcome desired by each patient.
Mommy makeovers combine multiple plastic surgery procedures that range from liposuction, tummy tuck, breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, as well as facial rejuvenation. Most often, women choose a mommy makeover to address lost breast volume, sagging or drooping breasts, excess skin around the midsection, and extra baby weight that cannot be reduce with diet or exercise.
